About Us

Plantnimals is a wildlife encyclopedia that helps people discover, learn about, and care for life on Earth—one species at a time.

Our Mission

We want to make the world’s biodiversity easier to explore and understand. Whether you’re curious about a plant in your garden, an animal you saw on a hike, or a fungus in the woods, we aim to give you clear, engaging, and scientifically grounded information so you can connect with nature and support its protection.

What We Do

We bring together:

  • Trusted scientific sources — Data from institutions and databases such as GBIF, iNaturalist, Wikipedia, and many others, so our species profiles are built on real science.
  • Clear, readable storytelling — Each profile is written to be both accurate and enjoyable to read, like a modern field guide or encyclopedia entry.
  • Plants, animals, and fungi — We cover all three kingdoms so you can explore the full variety of life, from mammals and birds to trees, wildflowers, and mushrooms.

Our goal is not to replace experts or field guides, but to offer a single place where anyone can start learning about a species—its identification, habitat, behaviour, conservation status, and why it matters.

How We Work

Species profiles are created by combining data from multiple open and scientific sources with careful writing and structure. We focus on clarity, correctness, and attribution: when we cite a source, we name it. When information is limited or uncertain, we say so. We also work to fill gaps for poorly known species using additional scientific search tools where possible, so even rare or little-documented species get a useful, honest entry.

Who We Are

Plantnimals is built by Krafty Sprouts Media LLC with a focus on education, conservation awareness, and public access to biodiversity information. We believe that the more people understand and appreciate the natural world, the more they will want to protect it.
