Atrichum undulatum is a moss, a small green plant from the phylum Bryophyta. It belongs to the family Polytrichaceae, the order Polytrichales, and the class Polytrichopsida.
Mosses like this one are nonvascular plants, and this classification places Atrichum undulatum among the groups that reproduce and grow without the conducting tissues found in ferns and flowering plants.
Distribution and Habitat
Sightings of Atrichum undulatum peak in June, with July close behind. Presence is least common from November through January.
The seasonal pattern shows when the moss is most often seen, not how many mosses are present at a given time.

Growth and Form
Atrichum undulatum is a nonvascular moss. Lacking vascular tissue, it takes in water and nutrients across its body surface rather than through roots and a transport system.
